This past weekend was a lovely mix of busy/loud and sweet/quiet.
Last week, the staff at work spent the week training on a new computer program that will help us manage lots of things better - membership and getting people signed up into new troops is the top of that list. One of our JC staff members came back with us from Knoxville and spend the night at my house Saturday night in preparation for a fun Saturday. E and I hosted a shower for my sweet work friend K - whose pregnancy is well-watched, loved, and wanted. We decided to host a rather non-traditional shower and do a picnic/pool party instead of the typical did your baby float out of the ice cube/what chocolate bar is melted in this diaper business. I think it was a great success even though some of our favorite folk weren't able to come. We ate tons, laughed, and loved on K and baby MG. I love these women that are in my life - thankful that we bridge the gap between work and life so beautifully - and take care of each other along the way.
Sunday was quiet, calm, and I spent 90% of the day in my pajamas. I watched 3 movies on Netflix (sadly, Chad had to work) and cleaned up a bit from having company. It was such a nice change of pace from a crazy go-go-go day Saturday that I loved every couch-bound moment. Two romantic comedies and a thriller later, I was happy to head to dinner with Chad's family. A little more grilling out (happy summer food!) and some good chats and the weekend was deemed a success.
Our computer program and new website went live about an hour ago and I'm excited about all of the possibilities. Good stuff coming.

Good weekend.
It has been and is going to be a great weekend!
I got off work at a normal time yesterday, came home, hung out with my dude and was in bed by 10pm (good stuff already!). This morning, we slept in and I lazily got up and showered in time to head to a baby sprinkle for a sweet friend in our small group. We went to a fabulous local restaurant - Foodworks - and had lunch and she opened sweet girly gifts (her first was a boy! She deserves some bows and pink!).
This afternoon, I came home to Chad working on our toilet (we have a leaking one in the hall bathroom) but no real plans for the rest of the day. Tomorrow we have church, lunch then TICKETS TO SEE HUNGER GAMES. Can you tell that I am excited? Fun day!
I love weekends when I don't work - unlike the entire month of April when I have to work every weekend. Le sigh.

a new day.
I'm still not sorry about what I wrote yesterday but I think I have a much better perspective on it now.
I am working on a couple of craft projects...two for babies that are coming in the near future and one that was for me (that I've already finished...a super easy bag made from a Girl Scout t-shirt. It was a fun shirt - it says "Every cookie has a mission...to help girls do great things." and I just made it into a bag.
Chad is back out at the fire location this morning but not to fire a fire. They apparently left the bulldozer in the woods last night because it was so far in and in such a bad spot that bringing it out in the dark was not an option. He says it will take them a couple of hours and some winching to get it back out and loaded on the transport truck. Oh well - we got about 5 minutes of strong rain last night and I am hoping that is enough to tide us over until the rain we are supposed to get Sunday or Monday arrives. Praying that I will get to spend some time with Chad over the next few days.
Going to clean bathrooms and work on crafts.

making plans
We are in Columbus this weekend - no really - right now! Don't worry the neighbors with guns (no really - they do - its awesome!) are watching the house for us. We are here to celebrate my sweet friend J and the upcoming birth of Caleb in October. We hope to shower her with love and blessings tomorrow here at my parents house so we have lots to do in preparation! So, I'm just checking in!
However, I want to mention - I have been in Columbus for less than 12 hours and I have already seen my 3 best friends in the entire world (together! in one place!!) and eaten Ok Suns. For those of you that understand the implications of that - it is truly epic. It has been a great day!

shower invites
These are the invites for Beth's baby shower! People should be getting them in the mail in the next day or two so I thought I could go ahead and post them. I did edit out some personal information (thus the weird gaps in the design) so that it wouldn't be totally weird and we wouldn't have strangers showing up at the party (though, as long as they bring gifts, I guess it might be ok!)Posted by PSIrwin at 10:02 AM 0 comments

good things.
After a nice date last night, where we got to talk about a lot of stuff and I got to hear nice encouragement from my husband, we came home and watched The Visitor. (a random Netflix pick that turned out to be both sad and sweet). Our date was so nice...it was the first of the Great Date Experiment that we have been able to actually fit into our busy schedules so it was January's date in March. Now we are only two behind! Chad didn't seem quite as "into" it as I was and didn't really want to play along with all of their instructions but did about half of it and it was good to hear some of his answers and thoughts. I still suggest is...especially if your spouse is a little more into make a fool of himself than mine is!
We have gotten a ton of stuff done today...Chad swept the hardwood floors downstairs and put away all the clean dishes and cleaned off the counters. He is now working in the attic with his dad to put some more plywood down to give a little more storage space. We have a huge attic here but none of it was really finished out so they are doing that to make the space a bit more useful. Since we installed the solar powered attic fan last summer, it stays cooler up there and it is safe to put more things in the attic for storage.
I have cleaned the bathrooms, addressed and stamped the baby shower invites to mail out tomorrow, vacuumed the downstairs living room and the stairs (and literally broke a sweat on that one...lugging that thing up and down the stairs is a great workout!). Now I have to fold a couple loads of laundry and vacuum (that is a really funny word when you really type it out) in the bedroom and we will be done. Dinner plans with the family and possibly Avatar in 3D to see what all the Oscar hype is all about.
